About Leni Robredo
Leni Robredo was born on April 23, 1965 in Naga, Camarines Sur, Philippines as Maria Leonor Santo Tomas Gerona. He was the eldest child of Naga City Regional Trial Court Judge Antonio Gerona (c. 1933-2013) and Salvacion Santo Tomás (1936-2020).
Robredo attended Naga’s Universidad de Sta. Isabel’s Basic Education Department, graduating from primary school in 1978 and high school in 1982. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of the Philippines School of Economics at UP Diliman in 1986 and went on to study law.
In 1992, he graduated from the University of Nueva Caceres. Gerona chose to forego law school in order to serve as a researcher for the Bicol River Basin Development Program (BRBDP), a government body responsible for integrated area development planning in the three provinces. Region of Bicol.
She met her future husband, Jesse Robredo, who was then the program director. She passed the bar exam on her second attempt in 1996 and was admitted to the Philippine Integrated Bar in May 1997.
