About DOLE

From 1954 until 1974, it was known as the Labour Management Advisory Board under Elpidio Quirino’s administration. The Philippine Legislature established the Department of Labour and Employment (DOLE) on December 7, 1933, with Act No. 4121. In 1978, it was renamed the Ministry of Labour and Employment. Following the People Power Revolution in 1986, the agency was designated a department.
