About DITO

The origins of Ditto Telecommunications Mindanao Islamic Telephone Company, Inc. (Mislatel) may be traced back to an Act of Congress passed on April 19, 1998 under Republic Act No. 8627 to franchise the construction, installation, commissioning, and operation.

Third major telecoms bidder:

Mislatel was one of the telecommunications corporations to join the government-sanctioned auction in 2018, allowing the winner to become the Philippines’ third major telco provider, challenging the duopoly of PLDT and Globe.

Mislatel ownership transfer to the consortium was approved by both the Senate and the House of Representatives.

Relaunch as Dito :

Mislatel was rebranded Dito Telecommunity on July 8, 2019. Dito was coined from the Filipino word for “here,” in response to a question from stakeholders about where they intend to establish a corporation that will give “world class service,” with “here” referring to the Philippines, where Dito Telecommunity is situated.
