The Department of Environment and Natural Resources, abbreviated as DENR, is the executive branch of the Philippine government responsible for the conservation, management, development, and proper use of the country’s environment and natural resources.
On January 1, 1916, the Commission of the Philippines enacted Act No. 2666, which founded the Department of Environment and Natural Resources as the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources (DANR). The Reorganization Act of 1947 changed the DAC into the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
On May 17, 1974, the DANR’s Natural Resources Branch was renamed the Ministry of Natural Resources. Executive Order No. 13 reformed the Ministry on January 30, 1987, into the Department of Environment, Energy, and Natural Resources.
On June 10, 1987, Executive Order No. 192 formed the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
